Decision Support and Forecasting

CEMI RAS
   The center was open in 2005 by the initiative of Academician V.L.Makarov
and Professor S.A.Aivazyan with the purpose to create the adequate
scientific image of CEMI RAS (Central Economics and Mathematics
Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences) and to provide the
interface between the scientific research in CEMI RAS and the Russian
and worldwide scientific community in economics and applied mathematics.
The potential audience includes researches and teachers of economics and
applied mathematics in Russia, Europe and North America who are
interested in applied and theoretical aspects of the Russian economy and
current trends in methodology of econometric research and macroeconomic
modeling, as well as in short-term, middle-term, and long-term forecasts
of the Russian economy. The Center is also open for a wide range of
practitioners and employees from the Government institutions of Russia
busy with various problems of economic policy. The ultimate goal of the
Decision Support Center is to provide methodological, theoretical, and
practical support for the economic decision making, i.e. for the choice
of instruments of macroeconomic policy, for forecasting of short-term
and middle-term consequences of this policy, and for the search of
alternatives in economic decision making. The main characteristic
feature of all research of the Decision Support Center is the “open code”
principle which requires full and open exposition of theoretical
foundations of all practical instruments of economic research (models,
forecasts, etc.) and active interaction with our clients (interactive
versions of econometric models, alternative forecasts, etc.). We strive
to support the independent economic thought in Russia, open and
non-conformist opinions and discussions of various themes concerning the
Russian and world economy.
